Location and Olympic Venue
As is often the case with Olympic sailing, the events are taking place away from the main Olympic site. For Paris 2024, the sailing regatta will be held at Marseille’s newly revamped Roucas-Blanc Marina, renamed Marseille Marina for the Games. The venue can accommodate up to 14,000 spectators.
Watching Olympic Sailing
For those unable to attend in person, watching the Olympic sailing competition on TV or through streaming services is the best alternative. Availability and cost may vary depending on your location.
Initial Events and Wind Conditions
The first two days of the Olympic sailing competition feature windsurfing and skiff sailing events. Both events have faced light wind challenges, but the Men’s Skiff (49er) and Women’s Skiff (49er FX) classes managed to complete six races each. Currently, New Zealand and France lead their respective fleets.
Free Streaming Options
Australia
Australians can watch the event for free on 9Now, which will stream over 40 channels live and on-demand. The best way to watch is through the 9Now app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
United Kingdom
In the UK, the BBC iPlayer will offer free coverage of Olympic sailing. Alternatively, Discovery+ provides comprehensive coverage for £3.99 with a special Olympic offer if you sign up before 11 August.
Paid Streaming Options
United States
NBCUniversal holds the broadcasting rights in the USA. Coverage will be available on Peacock TV and other NBC channels. Peacock offers a subscription for $7.99 per month (ad-supported) or $10 per month (ad-free).
New Zealand
In New Zealand, the events will be broadcast on TVNZ (free) and Sky Sport (paid). A Sky Sport Now subscription costs $19.99 per week or $34.99 for a special Olympic package.
