Villasimius Sets Sail: Hosting the 2024 Sardinia Challenge with Premier Sailing Competitions
From May 23 to 26, 2024, Villasimius will host the Sardinia Challenge, a series of events dedicated to the world of sailing.
The event, which kicks off the summer season for the Optimist Class sailing school, includes the third stage of the Kinder Joy of Moving Trophy – Touring Cup and the sixth stage of the WingFoil Italian Cup ok CKWI.
Kinder Joy of Moving Trophy – Touring Cup
- Dates: May 23-26, 2024
- Participants: Over 280 young cadet and junior sailors from all over Italy.
- Boat: Optimist, a 2.30-meter-long monohull designed for children and teenagers aged 8 to 14.
WingFoil Fest Trophy
- Dates: May 25-26, 2024
- Participants: Athletes competing in the sixth stage of the Italian Cup, valid for the Sardinian Championship title.
Side Activities
The rich calendar of the Sardinia Challenge also includes Parasailing activities with three Hansa 303 boats and the participation of top Sardinian athletes. On the afternoon of Saturday, May 25, the Marina di Villasimius square will host the Sea Festival.
Organization and Sponsorships
The event is organized by the Italian Naval League Villasimius Section, in collaboration with the Yacht Club Villasimius, the Marina di Villasimius, the Italian Sailing Federation, the III FIV Zone, with support from the Optimist Italia Class and the Ferrero Group with the Kinder Joy Of Moving project.
It is sponsored by the Municipality of Villasimius and the Marine Protected Area of Capo Carbonara and is part of the “Sardinia Island of Sport” major events calendar by the Sardinia Region Tourism Department.
